Understand the two data flows

The desktop app copies media locally to your chosen destinations; its error reports are described below. Website contact records, verification and consented analytics are separate. We explain their purposes in the privacy and cookie policies so you can make a meaningful choice. You can refuse optional analytics without losing access to the information site.

Error reports from the desktop app

The desktop app sends error reports to our service provider Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA). A report contains the error type and message with the home folder, user name, quoted texts and paths removed; the stack trace; the app version; the operating system and its version; the computer model and processor architecture; a random installation identifier; and the IP address of the computer that sends it, which Sentry may store with the report. Reports never contain your photos, videos or their contents, the names of your files, folders or phones, or license keys.

We use error reports only to find and fix problems. Crash reports are always sent because we need them to fix crashes; other error details and logs are sent only while Settings > Photos & privacy > Send diagnostics is on (on by default), and you can withdraw that consent at any time by turning it off. Reports are processed and stored in the USA under Sentry's data processing terms with Standard Contractual Clauses, may be subject to US law there, and are kept for 90 days, Sentry's default retention.

License purchases (Lemon Squeezy)

Website purchases of a license are handled by Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC, USA) as the merchant of record, under its own privacy policy; it processes your payment details and we never see your card. We receive your email address, the order number and the product and plan, and the app sends Lemon Squeezy the license key and a short computer label such as "Mac 3f9a" to activate and check the license. This information is processed in the USA and may be subject to US law there; we use it only to provide and support your license. Lemon Squeezy is a Stripe company: card payments are processed on the infrastructure of Stripe, Inc. on Lemon Squeezy's behalf, and we never receive card data.

Access, correction and complaints

Contact the privacy address to ask what information we hold, request correction, withdraw consent where applicable or raise a complaint. Service providers may process website information outside Canada and be subject to local laws. Ask about provider arrangements and safeguards; you may also contact the relevant Canadian privacy commissioner. Applicable federal and provincial rights remain in force.
